October, marked globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, culminated in a highly impactful session at the Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute on October 31st. This event, dedicated to breast cancer awareness and screening, brought together leading oncologists and over 50 women from our community for a day of education and proactive health.
Expert Insights on Early Detection and Advanced Care
The session featured insightful lectures from a panel of experienced oncologists, including our very own Dr. Sayoni Bhanja (Medical Oncologist) and Dr. Palas De (Radiation Oncologist). Their expertise illuminated various critical aspects of breast cancer, covering:
1. The Whys and Hows of Early Detection: Emphasizing the undeniable importance of finding cancer at its earliest stages.
2. The Crucial Role of Screening: Highlighting methods like Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) and mammography.
3. Advanced Care Options: Discussing the latest advancements in breast cancer treatment, from precision medicine to targeted therapies, which are transforming outcomes.
4. Promising Results & Encouragement: Sharing stories of hope and success, encouraging women to prioritize regular checks and not fear diagnosis.
The interactive nature of the session allowed attendees to engage directly with the experts, fostering a deeper understanding and providing a platform for their questions and concerns.
Proactive Screening: Over 50 Females Examined
A cornerstone of the event was the dedicated screening drive. More than 50 females underwent Clinical Breast Examinations (CBEs) by the expert medical team. This approach provided immediate feedback and guidance, removing barriers to essential early detection. Individual expert opinions were also shared, offering personalized advice and support to each participant.
BORCI’s Commitment to Community Health
This initiative perfectly aligns with BORCI’s mission to drive cancer awareness and facilitate early diagnosis across West Bengal. We believe that empowering individuals with knowledge and providing accessible screening opportunities are fundamental steps in our fight against breast cancer. The success of this session reinforces our commitment to community health and proactive cancer care.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the oncologists who shared their invaluable knowledge, to Medella Karkinos Oncology Institute for hosting, and especially to every woman who participated, taking a vital step towards safeguarding their health.
Stay vigilant, stay informed, and prioritize your well-being.
